The Red Moon

 Once in a Red Moon

        Our eyes dined in your light

        Forgeting all if only for awhile

        Yet there is cloud that shadows

        As our hearts long to again leap 

Once in a Red Moon

Until 2025

It was the beautous red moon the day before and thunder and lighting the next .... such is our world

To Move Forward

 A few days ago, a friend mentioned that she is having a hard time and has so many challenges, with work and children and marriage, grieving for her recent loss and meeting the bills. And she lamented 'why me' but at the same time saying and consoling herself that many others have it worse. 

I am reminded by another friend who said, yes it might be true that there are others who are going through a lot of worse than us  - there is always someone better or worse, isn't it ?.... but that is not the point.... 

we all have our realities ....our issues and grievances and problems ...its our reality at a given point in time...  there is no need to feel guilty to feel what we are feeling...acknowledge and deal with it. 

Coincidently, I just finished a book and in it was these few lines that caught my eye

This horror will grow mild

This darkness light

And this too shall soon pass

Onward and forward... my husband used to say this a lot to us in his last year...Onward and Forward...

Honestly!

 'I have to be honest with you ...

          'Honestly, ......

              'Can I be honest ....

                     'Can I be honest for a minute....

                            'Look I don't like to lie and so I have to be honest ................

Our play with words ......How interesting that we sometimes begin our sentences this way .............. does this mean that all this time have we been lying 😅 .....really! ...honestly!

                          

                         

        

For the Present

As we were driving to lunch yesterday, we saw a car in a building. It was obvious to us that the car drove into the building.  We later found out that the driver of the car had a heart attack and lost control of the car. Thankfully no one was hurt and the driver is fine and recovering. 

And this morning, I see on the news that a man fell from a cliff due to a medical reason at the same conservation park we were at yesterday, for our usual Friday hikes. 

Coincedently, I was chatting with someone last night, whom I had just met a few times. And she said, she was going to do things that she can do NOW because anything can happen tomorrow. 

Living and rejoicing and being thankful for now.

I wish everyone well. 

What Happens to our Things

I was looking through facebook marketplace the other day and came across so many adverts on deceased estate . Most of the adverts say, everything has to go, make an offer. 

From the pictures, it can be easily seen that these were things collected over the years, which probably meant something to the person who passed. 

And now those same things are  on facebook. Reflecting on this brought sadness and perhaps a little despair. 

We collect things over the years ...they are after all just things. We could argue that it brought the person joy, delight or whatever the reason may be. But it can't escape the reality that while we collect things, our live is passing by.  Some things,  yes, we need but much of is not. 

Even if we have money, are these things necessary?  Many of the rich get things, expensive things and lots. Could that money be used elsewhere.

I have lots of kitchen things ...some received as gifts, some bought ....glasses and plates and all of that... I don't need 3 teapots but I have them. 

We do need things to make us comfortable. But how much?   

Gifts and Presents - What does it Mean

My boys remind me all the time that when we need to get a gift for someone we must put effort in the gift ... it may not be an expensive gift, ...but it is very important to put our heart and thought to the gift...because that person is in our lives... they mean something

Its sometimes hard to buy a gift ...what do we get them?...my suggestion tends to be  money ... my practical explanation is that they then can get anything they want or need

But my boys think that is not thoughful ....gift cards has been a compromise  ...but not for my older one...he would take the time to get the right gift within the budget he sets 

Receiving a gift can be very meaningful ...

I still  use the dinner set presented to me for my wedding more than 20 years ago...

Gifts are about telling someone that they mean something to us and are important to us

Thank you for all the gifts that I have received over the years. 

Saving the Moon

Saving the moon …as we earthlings are stumbling with sustainability, global warming and climate change, there are cracks that we can’t see yet on the horizon

An article in the May 2021 Reader’s Digest is thought provoking (please pardon my naivety, as I am told this debate is not new). Since water-ice was discovered on the moon, there is greater confidence that life can exist on the moon.

Which also means the moon can be used as a base to travel elsewhere into space, and to mine the moon of minerals, which some say it will create peace on Earth but some scientists say the rocket launches and debris will stay in the Earth and moon’s atmosphere for hundreds of years

What will the future be like …. ‘the new frontier’ takes a whole different meaning …. It’s exciting and terrifying all at the same time …

technological advances is no more linear, it’s exponential , but it is also puzzling why there has not been another man landing on the moon since Apollo 17?

Migration in the future will probably be very different …I can just imagine -hey I am moving to the moon next year … see you soon .. who knows …
