Gifts and Presents - What does it Mean

My boys remind me all the time that when we need to get a gift for someone we must put effort in the gift ... it may not be an expensive gift, ...but it is very important to put our heart and thought to the gift...because that person is in our lives... they mean something

Its sometimes hard to buy a gift ...what do we get them?...my suggestion tends to be  money ... my practical explanation is that they then can get anything they want or need

But my boys think that is not thoughful ....gift cards has been a compromise  ...but not for my older one...he would take the time to get the right gift within the budget he sets 

Receiving a gift can be very meaningful ...

I still  use the dinner set presented to me for my wedding more than 20 years ago...

Gifts are about telling someone that they mean something to us and are important to us

Saving the Moon

Saving the moon …as we earthlings are stumbling with sustainability, global warming and climate change, there are cracks that we can’t see yet on the horizon

An article in the May 2021 Reader’s Digest is thought provoking (please pardon my naivety, as I am told this debate is not new). Since water-ice was discovered on the moon, there is greater confidence that life can exist on the moon.

Which also means the moon can be used as a base to travel elsewhere into space, and to mine the moon of minerals, which some say it will create peace on Earth but some scientists say the rocket launches and debris will stay in the Earth and moon’s atmosphere for hundreds of years

What will the future be like …. ‘the new frontier’ takes a whole different meaning …. It’s exciting and terrifying all at the same time …

technological advances is no more linear, it’s exponential , but it is also puzzling why there has not been another man landing on the moon since Apollo 17?

Migration in the future will probably be very different …I can just imagine -hey I am moving to the moon next year … see you soon .. who knows …

On a sad day, it can be hard to cry....although we may not realise it that we need it .. it does make it bettter

Sometimes we need a little nudge ... a little help ...onions become a good friend

 It helps to let it out

Have you noticed the young ones (some older ones too ! ) use those headphone things in their ears, shutting out so much I think …

Sound and sight of …

The birds’ song

The leaves’ rustle

The winds’ whistle

The insects’ chirp

The raindrops’ patter

The river’s soft waves

The stream’s gentle trickle

The flowers’ bloom

The bees’ buzz

Nature’s sound and scent

The happy hey from the person walking past

Why not just be … just for a while

To Be Free

 

 

In the beat of the sun

The leaves on tree swaying

In the midst of the singing wind

I feel the serenity of freedom

 

It is within my reach, yet, I cannot seize it

Mine to behold, but it keeps stepping backwards

 

Emerge the night, 

In the darkness, the stars twinkle

The lone beauteous moon

Freely shining its light 

 

Don't they know

I want to be free, like the wind

Like the stars and the moon

In a world of my own

In tranquility

I want to be free

I want to be me

I wrote this poem when I was 18  and it was published in the school year book.  I had forgotten about it until a good friend and school mate showed it to me last year. My mate kept it for more than 30 years! I am so grateful for the thoughtfullness and that this poem was liked.

This blog is about everyday life .......... a diary of sorts ... I intend for this blog to have my observations, my thoughts and views, recipes and poems and short stories... about just anything. 

I am an ordinary, typical mum. I worked full time in the corporate world for 20 years. I am in my 50s a full time mom now to my almost grown up boys.
